Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding watersport

Wakeboarding is a water sport in which the rider, standing on a wakeboard (a short board with foot bindings), is towed behind a motorboat across its wake and especially up off the crest for aerial maneuvers. The rider is usually towed by a rope, but can also be towed by cable systems and winches, and other motorized vehicles like speed boat, personal watercraft, cars, etc.

For water sport lovers, Tanjung Benoa – Nusa Dua is a good place to do wakeboarding. Here, the wakeboarder is pulled by a boat at a speed of approximately 25km/ hour. To keep afloat on the surface of water this speed is ajusted depending on the size of wakeboard, rider’s weight and the type of maneuver the wakeboard riders want to do.

Besides using a speedboat to pull the wakeboard, in Bali there is also cable wakeboarding. However wakeboarding with speed boat at Tanjung Benoa Beach is the popular one as it is located on a beautiful beach and it can be combined with many other types of water sport available there.

To do wakeboarding, you need to have some experience otherwise it is difficult to do. You need to keep steady balance on the board and also have to have fit health condition as it is a physically demanding activity. At Tanjung Benoa, one session of wakeboarding last about 30 minutes (including time for briefing, preparation and the set-up of equipment).
